OSBX DEMO

PAT MCGRATH LABS: Supernatural

Directing. Editing.

We were approached by their social media director, who had the dreamy concept of a young woman visiting a psychic, we found the location, cast the talent, shot and edited this bad-ass video.

CHALLENGE:

Whenever working in the fashion industry, the pressure is to walk that fine line of keeping up with the trends without looking too trendy; or worse, like you are faking it.

MERCK: The NEXT

Writing. Directing. Editing. Motion Graphics.

This is the anthem video for NEXT, showcasing the new internet platform that will simplify and unify all online work flow for the international pharmaceutical company MERCK KGaA.

CHALLENGE:

With a company this size, there were a lot of hands in the pot, and each wanted their departments to be featured. All the re-writes kept pushing back our multiple-city shoot, but the delivery and launch date remained the same.It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

BHLDN: Real Brides

Directing. Editing.

This video for BHLDN, the bridal line of the retailer Anthropologie, featured real brides discussing their wedding experiences while wearing the wedding dresses they had actually purchased from BHLDN. The art direction, dictated by the client, was to have the set look like a Vanity Fair magazine cover shot by Annie Leibovitz.

CHALLENGE:

The original concept was to have individual interviews with each bride, but in the edit room this slowed down the video, making it much longer than the desired 2 minutes. Our solution was to use the interviews as a voice over that told their stories with stunning visuals.

THE GROSS ROOM: Sizzle Reel

Writing. Directing. Editing. Motion Graphics. Branding.

Internet sensation Mrs. Angemi came to OSBX to develop her Instagram page with its 1.6 million followers into a television show. After developing a concept, we self-produced a proof-of-concept “sizzle reel” to shop to networks. Currently, we have a contract with Hopetown Entertainment in association with STX Productions to showrun and shop The Gross Room.

CHALLENGE:

With the subject matter of autopsies, unusual mishaps and bizarre deaths, it took quite a bit to conceptualize a show that could be broadcast to a large viewing audience and that a network would be interested in picking up. We wanted to turn it around and make the final product fun, educational and entertaining by playing up Mrs. Angemi’s rock and roll persona.

DOWNTIME: Sizzle Reel

Writing. Directing. Editing. Motion Graphics. Branding.

When you are approached by Food Network star and iconic Chopped judge, Amanda Freitag, and she asks you to develop, produce and direct a show concept for her that deviates from the typical “stand and stir” cooking show, you get to work. We came up with a cutting edge, food-centric talk show. Amanda’s strengths are her infectious and fun personality, and her unwavering curiosity about food and people. Throw in celebrities sharing their secret comfort foods in their go-to “chill out spot” and you have DOWNTIME. What do celebrities, comedians, musicians and chefs do when they come off the stage, get off the road and close their restaurants? They don’t work 9-5, and they typically don’t have weekends. Their downtime is precious, and Amanda is the perfect host to get them to open up and give us a peek into their “real” lives.

PAWS

Directing. Editing.

This is the “umbrella” video for the the non-profit rescue organization, PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society). This video is used to not only inform the public of all the great work they do, but also to show how much it takes to rescue and care for all the animals. In the larger sense, it is a call-to-action to volunteer, adopt, and most importantly, donate!

CHALLENGE:

We needed to include a lot of information and data to relay PAWS’ message and the amazing work they do without bogging viewers down with too much, all the while keeping the video light and fluid. A bunch of adorable animals really helped!

ALTER STREET: Kris Chau

Directing. Editing. Branding.

This was our first Alter Street and still one of our favorites. This L.A. goddess’ work is grounded in tribal symbolism done in a fluid style of inks and dyes on paper that is beyond stunning. Kris was so open in giving us an inside look into her world. She let her nerd flag fly and her energy is infectious when she talks about what making art means to her. Above her amazing talents, she is just an incredible person and it was a pleasure capturing her essence on film.

This was a self-produced passion project. Alter Street was a bi-monthly artist documentary series in which we worked directly with artists and galleries in Philadelphia, New York and Los Angeles. Each episode in the series features a unique artist. We highlighted their process to creating their work, how they got started, their studios, and how all their work culminates in a public show. We also sold limited-edition prints that we designed and produced to help with funding more episodes.

CHALLENGE:

Being self-produced with basically zero budget, the crew volunteered their time working for food and beer. This was challenging, but also bonding in that it became everybody’s passion project.

ALTER STREET: Jim Houser

Directing. Editing. Branding.

Jim Houser is a Philadelphia-based artist. His work is so easily identified. His palette and his subtle but poignant style hits home as much as it pleases your senses. We were fortunate enough to meet with Jim just before an exhibit in one of the galleries where he first got his start. He graciously invited us into his home (which is also his studio) to give us an inside peek to his physical and mental processes. After this episode came together, we knew Alter Street would be something special.

ALTER STREET: NoseGo - Yis Goodwin

Directing. Editing. Branding.

NoseGo started as a street artist dropping his funky creatures all over the city. Now his paintings have been in galleries around the world. We were able to catch him working in both public and private spaces. He was painting in his studio to get work done for an upcoming show, and we also caught up with him working on a super-sized mural on the side of a legendary music venue. Through his big smile you could not help but see he is just a big sweetheart of a guy. Working with NoseGo gave us the street cred Alter Street was looking for and opened the series up to a broader community of artists.
